Melvin Ray Hatley

Mr. Melvin Ray Hatley, age 88 of Camden, TN passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Jackson General Hospital. Mr. Hatley was born on May 24, 1929 in Benton County to the late Wesley H. Hatley and Myrtle Mae Smith Hatley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Bates.  Mr. Hatley was retired from General Motors after 32 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, of Lockport, IL and a U.S Army Veteran, who served as Sergeant in the 7th Division. He was on the front lines in the Korean War for 9 months and 11 days. He was also part of the Army Atomic testing in Desert Rock, NV. Mr. Hatley loved life, God's creation, his family, his neighbors and he was always a Good Samaritan. He made walking sticks as a hobby and was known as the walking stick man. Burial will follow in the Camden City Cemetery.Visitation with the Hatley family will be on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 12:00-1:00.
