Jimmy Thornton

July 22, 1942 — January 18, 2020

Jimmy Thornton, age 77 of Holladay, TN passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Mr. Thornton was born on July 22, 1942 in Benton County to the late J T Thornton and Dorothy B Morris Thornton. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Jennifer Thornton Taylor.  He was owner/operator of Thornton Trading Company and former Benton County Executive. He was the ultimate horse trader. He spent many hours driving the roads of Benton County and the surrounding areas with his horse and buggy.  A one of a kind man who was known for his red suspenders.

Wife: Judy Thornton of Holladay, TN

Sons: Allen (Tess) Thornton of Parsons, TN

         Justin (Sandra) Thornton of Holladay, TN

Daughter: Jaime (Marty) Tyler of Holladay, TN

Brother: Jerry (Lynda) Thornton of Holladay, TN 

Grandchildren: Jay Hunter Taylor, Jenna Taylor, Jackson Thornton, Stella Thornton, Jayden Tyler, Levi Thornton, Lylah Thornton

 

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11 am at the Thornton Cemetery in McIllwain. 

Visitation with the Thornton family will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden, TN.
