John Wesley Churchwell

Mr. John Wesley Churchwell, age 83 of Big Sandy, TN., went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 22, 2019 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Mr. Churchwell was born on June 19, 1936 in Perry County, TN. to the late Eddie Garner Churchwell and Jessie Francis Hicks Churchwell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Crosby Churchwell, son Don Churchwell and granddaughters Chelsea and Candace Churchwell. He was a retired electrician with Hood Container Corporation. John was a former owner of the Camden Chronicle/Magic Valley News & Shopper. John was an avid supporter and promoter of southern gospel music, a loving devoted father, grandfather & great grandfather. He loved his God and family so very much.

Survivors include:

Daughters: Betty (Randy) Hudson of Big Sandy, TN

                       Christy (Roger) Brasher of Camden, TN

Daughter in law: Dawn Churchwell of Camden, TN

Grandchildren: Brandy Hudson, Wesley (Katilyn) Hudson, Kristen (Logan) Early, Christopher (Elizabeth) Brasher, Logan (Ashley) Brasher, Callie Brasher

Great Grandchildren: Aubrey Hudson, Abbi Kate Hudson, Annistyn Kate Early, Isabella Brasher and Mallory Brasher.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:30 am at the Oakdale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Christopher Brasher officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery.

Visitation with the Churchwell family will be on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 5:00-9:00 pm and again on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 9:00-11:30.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Dr. Don W. Churchwell Memorial Scholarship Fund at Apex Bank, 180 Hwy 641 N., Camden, TN. 38320
