Retha Jean Allen

Retha Jean Allen age 77 of Camden, Tennessee, died Friday, February 22^nd 2019 while in the care of family in Clanton, Alabama.

Retired from Dana Limited in 2006, Jean was known for being on the go and keeping busy.  She was an avid gardener who enjoyed being outside doing just about anything.  Whether she was fishing, tending to her beautiful flowerbeds or picking fresh strawberries, she could always be heard humming a tune and seen with a smile just beneath the sweat on her brow. She loved traveling and seeing new places, and when she wasn’t in the garden or on a road trip, she enjoyed cooking, playing games, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

 Born January 8^th 1942 in Camden, Tennessee, she was the daughter of late Carnell Bain and the late Mattie “Tiny” Marie Bain. 

Jean is survived by two siblings: her sister Rita Freeland and husband Mickey Freeland of Paris, Tennessee, her brother Harold Dean Bain and fiancé Trish Whitford of Camden, Tennessee; her two children: her daughter Kerri Thornton and husband Larry Thornton of Paris, Tennessee, her son Gary Allen of Paris, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Richard Webber and wife Ryanne Webber of Atlanta, Georgia, Jessica Mitchell and husband David Mitchell of Paris, Tennessee, Sasha Allen Vie of Lawton, Oklahoma, Christopher Allen of Lawton, Oklahoma, Darien Ramsey and wife Angel Ramsey of Selma, Alabama, Dakota “Cody” Ramsey and fiancé Shania Canada of Selma, Alabama; and two great grandchildren: Noah David Mitchell and Memphis Ramsey.

Along with her parents, a daughter preceded her in death: Misti Carol Ramsey and a brother: Darrell Bain.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 1 pm at the family burial plot at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery: 5090 Liberty Road Camden, Tennessee 38320.

Visitation with the Allen family will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 10:00-12:30 pm at Oakdale Funeral Home.
